Tell us about yourself!

I have lived on the Peninsula for 40 years plus, started a business, raised a family and have been involved in local sport as a volunteer and coach. I have represented Australia in athletics and played AFL football. I have worked for charities and organised events for charitable causes. I feel the discipline and great culture gained over those years has given me a great sense of fairness, hard work and a belief in the need for basics to be displayed as a sportsperson, businessman and budding politician.

2. Are you a member of a political party, or are you endorsed or affiliated with a political party?

No.

3. What do you see as the key issues facing the Mornington Peninsula Shire?

Bringing basic services back to a level we all expect councils should deliver as a minimum. (RR&R)

4. What skills and experience will you bring to your role if elected to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council?

I owned and ran my own business for over 25 years, have been a CEO for a charity and competed in 2 sports at the highest levels. This has taught me the disciplines and efforts required to be successful. I believe these experiences have given me the tools necessary to deliver great outcomes within my role as a Council representative.

5 Do you support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land to industrial and residential, to assist in keeping high-tech manufacturing jobs on the Mornington Peninsula and provide long-term strategic planning to the housing crisis in our region?

I am not familiar with this area and would need to take in all the facts around any proposed re-zoning along with public consultation.

6. What role do you believe local government can play to help Mornington Peninsula Shire Council reach the Victorian Government’s ambitious housing targets of 31,000 new dwellings by 2050?

We should certainly be looking at various options here. But again with our green wedge taken into mind along with public consultation.

7. Do you support efforts to redevelop Rosebud Hospital? What tangible role can local government play in advocating for funding for this project?

Yes I think this is a project we should be supporting.

8. Why should ratepayers vote for you?

I am a fair minded person that wants to see our peninsula returned to its best whilst concentrating on the basics and ensuring we deliver those services to the highest standards. Fixing those things we all see as broken with nothing done for years to repair them! eg Mt Martha Beach steps.

9. If you are elected, what would you like your legacy to be at the end of your four year term?

Returning the peninsula to its best in anything we have to offer here.

10. How important to you is the relationship between Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula? What would you do as a councilor to maintain and improve that relationship?

Consultation and ensuring we have dialogue on all issues that effect the entire peninsula.
