The three key issues I see facing the Mornington Peninsula Shire are: 1. Transparency and Accountability: Council must become more transparent and accountable in its decision-making processes, ensuring that residents clearly understand how and why decisions are made. 2. Focus on Local Issues: The Council needs to prioritise local community concerns rather than pursuing personal or political agendas, focusing on the needs of residents and rate payers. 3. Efficient Use of Funds: Council should stop wasteful spending and redirect resources towards essential infrastructure and services that directly benefit the community. I want free access to our coastal assets, clean beaches, well-maintained public infrastructure, thriving local businesses, and a Shire where every resident's needs and values are met.

In my 20s, I served as a commercial pilot, engaging directly with state and federal ministers, government agencies, and elected officials across the political spectrum. As a dedicated local small business owner, I have actively participated in initiatives like the Mornington Harbour Precinct Working Group and the Mornington Coastal Advisory Group. With 23 years of experience working alongside diverse political entities, I am well-equipped to effectively represent and advocate for our community. My award-winning business background in commercial marine, tourism, and aviation has provided me with a deep understanding of our community's needs. As a councillor, I will prioritise transparency, accountability, and community engagement, adhering to the Local Government Act 2020 while ensuring local government serves residents and businesses first, free from external political influences. I am committed to thoroughly reviewing reports and making decisions based on community feedback and responsible fiscal management. I will hold council officers accountable to ensure their advice aligns with our collective goals. It’s time for real, actionable change in our Shire, led by independent representatives focused on proactive problem-solving to create a local government that truly works for us.

Yes, I support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land to industrial and residential uses. As an original member of the Mornington Marine Alliance, I recognise its potential to retain high-tech manufacturing jobs on the Mornington Peninsula. This strategic decision is essential for addressing our region's housing crisis and the critical lack of industrial land needed to support local industry. I have also reviewed CFMP’s July 22 report on the Port Development Strategy 2024, which reinforces the importance of this initiative. However, it must be accompanied by thorough assessments of social, environmental, and economic factors to ensure sustainable growth and community well-being.

I do not support the 3.3% tax on new builds to fund social housing, as public and social housing is primarily the responsibility of state and federal governments. As a councillor, I will advocate for equitable funding and support for the Mornington Peninsula without placing additional pressure on our local building industry. Such a tax could drive up housing costs and exacerbate inflation, making homes less affordable for all residents. A more balanced approach would involve collaborating with state and federal governments to leverage existing funding and resources for fair outcomes. Additionally, I believe that planning permits should be issued within statutory timeframes, and affordable housing should be prioritised in appropriate areas through lower rates, expedited permits, and reduced fees. This would encourage landowners to responsibly develop their properties and help alleviate the housing crisis.

Yes, I thoroughly support the redevelopment of Rosebud Hospital, which is a vital asset for our community on the Mornington Peninsula. Local government can play a crucial role in advocating for funding by actively engaging with both state and federal governments. This involves building strong partnerships with health authorities and local stakeholders to present a united front regarding the hospital’s needs. Additionally, local council can gather and provide data and community feedback to emphasise the importance of the hospital and the demand for enhanced services. By actively seeking grants and funding opportunities specific to health infrastructure, council can demonstrate a commitment to improving healthcare access for residents. Moreover, raising public awareness about the redevelopment is essential. By informing the community and generating public support, local councils can influence government decisions more effectively. Through these efforts, council can ensure that Rosebud Hospital is redeveloped to meet the evolving needs of our community.

I’m a resident, homeowner, and business owner in Mornington—not a politician, nor am I pursuing a political career. My sole focus is to serve our community. My vision for The Mornington Peninsula is to create a vibrant, resilient community where residents and businesses can thrive. I’m committed to improving safety, fostering innovation, enhancing accessibility, and promoting environmental stewardship. With a focus on accountability and transparency, I aim to restore the Mornington Peninsula’s prestige, ensuring clean beaches, free access to coastal areas, well-maintained infrastructure, and a prosperous future for all.

I envision a transparent and accountable Shire that prioritises the needs and values of residents, ensuring that our community thrives for generations to come.

The relationship between Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula is important for our community’s growth. Having followed the CMFP from its origins, I would welcome regular communication and collaboration. As a councillor, I would advocate for ongoing briefings and open dialogues to strengthen this partnership, allowing us to effectively address community needs and seize opportunities for our residents and businesses.
