Tell us about yourself!

Rye Resident. PR & Crisis Management consultant, media and presentation skills trainer to some of Australia's most complex organisations for decades . Former Journalist, and broadcaster I have worked both sides of the media and have built up a very strong network. My superpower is my communication skills in being able to listen to the stakeholders, decipher the facts and work on a solution. I am most proud of two occasions I was able to change the law for the better utilising my communication, media and networking skills. My LinkedIn profile shows my experience across various sectors and I have been fortunate enough to have had a fabulous career working with leaders from various walks of life.I have three adult children who are making a difference in the world. I have two spirited coastal kelpies. In recent years I have been honoured to add funeral celebrant to my CV. I'm ready for this next challenge.

2. Are you a member of a political party, or are you endorsed or affiliated with a political party?

I have worked as a consultant for the two major political and minor parties.

3. What do you see as the key issues facing the Mornington Peninsula Shire?

We need greater cohesion, efficiency, accountability and respect from Council for ratepayers dollars. In business we have a choice at where we spend our money but with rates we don't have a choice. This is a $300million "business" largely funded by ratepayer money yet Council is full of division infighting and indecision which wastes hundreds of thousands of these dollars. -We need better and more integrated infrastructure and services to attract investment and respectful development that meets the needs of our community now and for the future. -I have concerns about health care generally and specifically the lack of appropriate services on the peninsula with our aging population . I want to focus on what we as a Council can do, and what we can advocate for with the state and federal government in collaboration with the private sector, to ensure the safety, security and dignity of our residents as they age.

4. What skills and experience will you bring to your role if elected to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council?

My vision for Council is to be an effective decision making body in the strongest and best interests of this community. I commit to you to listen. I will advocate for the issues that are important to us all. I will advocate for the issues that are important to us all. I will hold Council accountable for its behaviour and inefficiency and being part of the solution rather than a different version of the same problem.

5 Do you support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land to industrial and residential, to assist in keeping high-tech manufacturing jobs on the Mornington Peninsula and provide long-term strategic planning to the housing crisis in our region?

From what I have read on the subject I support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land, as long as it's done in a way that aligns with the needs of our community and doesn't compromise our pristine environment. We need to ensure that the community is fully consulted throughout the process to strike a balance between economic sustainable development and environmental preservation.

6. What role do you believe local government can play to help Mornington Peninsula Shire Council reach the Victorian Government’s ambitious housing targets of 31,000 new dwellings by 2050?

This is a very complex question. I have had more than 25 years in the development sector and I have strong knowledge of the programs currently underway across Australia. It is again similar to the question on Rosebud Hospital. It is being able to identify what we can do at a local government level and what we can advocate for and work with the other governments and private authorities. It's not a one size fits all. It's a huge challenge ahead.

7. Do you support efforts to redevelop Rosebud Hospital? What tangible role can local government play in advocating for funding for this project?

Yes definitely. I want to focus on what we as a Council can do, and what we can advocate for with the state and federal government in collaboration with the private sector to ensure the health, safety and dignity of our community

8. Why should ratepayers vote for you?

I will be a Councillor who can build consensus and facilitate outcomes. My vision for Council is to be an effective decision making body in the strongest and best interests of this community.

9. If you are elected, what would you like your legacy to be at the end of your four year term?

That I had integrity and got things to meet the needs of our community now and for the future.

10. How important to you is the relationship between Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula? What would you do as a councilor to maintain and improve that relationship?

I am very familiar with the wonderful networking and advocacy work you do and for the Peninsula and I would take an active role in your Committee.
