Tell us about yourself!

I’m a naturalized Australian, first arriving from the UK in 1995. My company, Chemring Group, appointed me Regional Managing Director of three companies in Australia, New Zealand and USA. Originally our family of six lived in Blackrock but since 2000 we have lived in Hastings, Mornington and Frankston. In the UK I was awarded a Master of Science in Industrial Management and a Certified Diploma In Accounting and Finance. I’ve been a Managing Director of three UK businesses and Works Manager or Director in three others also having positions in the Local Labour Party and trades union movement. In Australia I ran my hospitality business for six years being active in Western Port and MPTourism, on the executive on Peninsula Art Society organizing three Spring Art Shows. Before retiring I was a consultant and had Continuous Improvement contracts in businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and the USA. Most recently, I sang with the Australian Welsh Male Choir and happily returned to living in Mornington.

2. Are you a member of a political party, or are you endorsed or affiliated with a political party?

Yes. I ran twice for council in the UK.

3. What do you see as the key issues facing the Mornington Peninsula Shire?

Getting value for money for ratepayers to reduce the rates and do more to help residents deal with the cost of living crisis. Drop plans to build new headquarters.

4. What skills and experience will you bring to your role if elected to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council?

See my bio. I’ve run and assisted major companies to be more efficient. I’m not afraid to stand up for residents in Tanti Ward and keep them informed on imposed changes.

5. Do you support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land to industrial and residential, to assist in keeping high-tech manufacturing jobs on the Mornington Peninsula and provide long-term strategic planning to the housing crisis in our region?

Yes to industrial but need to see infrastructure plans to support any more residential development

6. What role do you believe local government can play to help Mornington Peninsula Shire Council reach the Victorian Government’s ambitious housing targets of 31,000 new dwellings by 2050?

To resist any development until the State debt has been reduced.

7. Do you support efforts to redevelop Rosebud Hospital? What tangible role can local government play in advocating for funding for this project?

Leave it to the State

8. Why should ratepayers vote for you?

I will do all I can to assist the Council in helping ease the cost of living burden for residents.

9. If you are elected, what would you like your legacy to be at the end of your four year term?

A Council recognising that they serve the people not pursue their own political agendas

10. How important to you is the relationship between Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula? What would you do as a councilor to maintain and improve that relationship?

Don’t know who selected you and who you are accountable to.
