Mornington Peninsula Shire has joined the Committee for Mornington Peninsula as a community member, strengthening our collective voice as we continue to work hard and advocate for our region.
The Committee for Mornington Peninsula is an independent, member-based organisation committed to leading and influencing long-term outcomes
for the Mornington Peninsula.
The Committee works beyond electoral cycles and partisan politics to enhance social, economic and environmental sustainability to improve
our region's liveability, growth and sustainability.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Steve Holland said our quest to get a better deal for the Mornington Peninsula is what we have in common.
“As a Council, we’re committed to achieving long-term outcomes for the Peninsula, and this partnership will amplify our call for additional State and Federal Government funding, policy attention and investment to our region.”
Josh Sinclair, CEO of the Committee for Mornington Peninsula, welcomed the partnership and said it reflected the
shared spirit of advocacy between industry and local government on the Mornington Peninsula.
"We have many common objectives within Committee and the Shire, and we look forward to working together to help make those goals a
reality".
"A strong collective voice is exactly what this region needs, and the partnership between the Shire and the Committee enhances
that."
Cr Anthony Marsh, Council’s Small Business Champion said while the Mornington Peninsula is an amazing place to live and a great place to work, our residents and businesses don’t always have the support they need.
“Through our joint advocacy work, we hope to shine a light on this lack of attention and provide small businesses the support they
need.”

Partnership vital for Peninsula Prosperity - Opinion Piece
The partnership between the Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Mornington Peninsula marks an important milestone in the future growth and prosperity of our region. The Shire’s membership of the Committee acknowledges that a strong and collective advocacy effort from our region is necessary to attract and sustain government investment on the Mornington Peninsula.
Residents know that this part of Victoria is a great place to live and work, but we are far too often ignored by successive state and federal governments when it comes to infrastructure investment and incentivising business and economic development in our region. Partnerships like the one announced this week will improve our ability as a region to fight for what we deserve and help make our voice in the room the loudest one.
The Committee looks forward to working with local government on priority issues, including but not limited to; accommodation and housing shortages; protecting the unique characteristics of our region; improving accessibility to public transport, health and education opportunities; and supporting state significant clean energy efforts at the Port of Hastings.
This beautiful part if the world is part of Metropolitan Melbourne, and now is the time for us collectively to be louder, be stronger, and be united in demanding more from our elected representatives and both levels of government.
Our community needs a strong collective voice and the partnership between the Shire and Committee helps do just that.
