First Members Breakfast of 2023 a Success!

The Committee for Mornington Peninsula's first Members Breakfast of 2023 was held on Friday, 3 March at Mercetta on Main Street, Mornington.

The Committee welcomed more than 30 members, community leaders, and business leaders from the Mornington Peninsula, including representatives from the Mornington Peninsula Shire, Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism, Chambers of Commerce, not-for-profit associations, and small-to-medium businesses.

Matt McDonald, CEO of SeaRoad Ferries and Vice President of CfMP, talked about the opportunities and challenges that the Summer presented itself - particularly around congestion and infrastructure on the Southern Peninsula.

We also heard from our President, Shannon Smit, and new CEO, Josh Sinclair, about the advocacy goals of the Committee this year. This included making representations to Government at a State and Federal level and highlighting where Government needs to be investing in our region; working with the Shire on the new Mornington Peninsula Technology and Industrial Precinct - and keeping jobs on the Peninsula; and advocating with the community and local representatives for significant investment into Rosebud Hospital.

Small businesses found the breakfast a good opportunity to network with business leaders from the region, and we hope even more members can attend our next get-together on Thursday, 11 May at Sages Cottage in Baxter.
