Fred Harrison celebrates 50 years at Ritchies
Committee members joined together at Jubilee Park Stadium on Friday, 25 July to celebrate Ritchies CEO Fred Harrison and 50 years of service at Ritchies.
Fred Harrison founded the Committee for Greater Frankston in 2017 with a group of influential Frankston leaders, many of whom are still involved in the Committee to this day.

More than 60 members attended the celebration!

Fred's time at Ritchies began when he was a trolley boy, working his way up to CEO in 1994. With nearly 90 stores across Australia,
Ritchies is the largest independent supermarket in Australia.
Fred spoke about some of the challenges his business has faced over the last few decades, and the growing pressure points for independent grocery stores across Australia.
Wayne Harrison then spoke about what the future looks like for Ritchies, and some of the opportunities it wants to lead the way in after some learnings from overseas. An ongoing challenge remains the major supermarket duopoly in Australia.
The Ritchies story is a quintessential Frankston and Mornington Peninsula success story. It’s a story that began right here in Frankston, and much like Fred, the Ritchies and Fred Harrison stories seem to intertwine with one another.
The one thing that grounds these two successful stories is their home. Ritchies, the organization – and Fred Harrison, the community business leader – have given so much to their local communities and for that we are grateful.
The Committee will continue to welcome Ritchies as a key member of the Committee, and looks forward to working proactively with Wayne over the coming years as the new CEO.
In recognition of Fred Harrison's service to his local community, the Committee was pleased to award Fred with a Certificate acknowledging his Community Leadership across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
