Practical Response to Worker Shortages

A lack of affordable accommodation on the Mornington Peninsula has meant business has had to get creative when finding housing solutions for staff, particularly over the busy summer period on the Southern Peninsula.

CFMP member Sorrento Lodge provide a new living solution for businesses looking for affordable accommodation in the region.

In peak periods, the lodge can house up to 70+ workers right on Ocean Beach Road in Sorrento.

Accommodation issues for residents, workers and tourists remain a  significant challenge for our region, and substantial support from both levels of government is required to address it.

Sorrento Lodge is an innovative model that provides a practical response to an ongoing regional issue.

Our region is locked out of the Government’s Regional Housing Fund and Regional Worker Accommodation Fund due to red tape. As such, businesses have to get creative and look for solutions themselves.
