Supporting our local economy as we bounce back from Covid.

I’ll contribute by supporting our business community, championing our area as the wonderful destination that it is, enticing new investments, and encouraging all residents to support local wherever possible.

Tackling the challenges of population growth while retaining what we love about our towns.

I will use communication, almost every issue is one of change and how we choose to approach that change. Consultation with community is paramount in ensuring everyone feels involved in the process and will hopefully lead to better understanding and fewer referrals to VCAT

Creating opportunities for our youth.

I want to create an avenue for primary and secondary aged students to have a voice. To be able to advocate for the facilities, services and training opportunities they want. I then want to facilitate partnerships between the council, not for profits and the private sector to deliver these in a timely manner.

A lifetime working in our hospitality sector. It’s astounding that with so many people employed in the hospitality and tourism industry, there is no one with industry experience on council.

I’ve owned and operated a small business.

4 years as school council president. I understand good governance.

Connection to my community that comes from decades of living, working and volunteering on the Mornington Peninsula.

While this project won't hugely benefit the Mornington Peninsula. This is the first step in achieving electrified rail to Hastings, which would be fantastic for residents in all towns between Baxter and Hastings. It’s important to keep pushing for state government support.

Champion our small business community and ask for industry advice on matters that directly affect each industry.

More work needs to be done to streamline the approval process when starting a business.

Yes.

Our current success rate in VCAT is not something to be proud of. I’m not an expert in planning matters but I’m very good at conflict resolution and back my ability to be able to work with all parties to find amicable solutions.

Assistance will need to vary based specific industries. I would have loved to have seen business owners asked to participate in working groups to help form the Council’s response. I would also encourage all elected councillors to explore all opportunities to avoid further rate and fee increases in the next budget.

I’m a hardworking, honest, community minded person. I will listen when they speak and respond to their requests.

It’s my firm belief that good leaders don’t need credit for their success so I’m not approaching this to try and leave a legacy. I’d like to be measured on my ability to improve communication both within the organisation and externally in turn creating a better working relationship between the community and the Council.

It’s time for fresh faces! With a focus on communication, consultation and encouraging new creative ideas I believe I am a candidate worth your consideration.
