Housing Statement Briefing with Minister Shing

On Tuesday 30 January Minister for Housing, the Hon. Harriet Shing provided a briefing on the Victorian Government's Housing Statement and how it affects Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

The Victorian Government's Housing Statement was released in September 2023.

Some elements of the plan affect Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula more than others, including the short stay levy, inability to access regional funding schemes, accommodation for staff, rental affordability, and planning changes.

Our board and CEO raised questions around social housing supply, the Frankston Metropolitan Activity Centre plan, the short stay levy, and the difficulty in trying to solve Peninsula housing issues with metropolitan solutions.
